Lions Winter Event was this weekend.
For me at least, it rocked. I'm still somewhat in shock, but have recovered sufficiently to write something down about it now at least... Hot: - Getting married. It was rushed, and it was quiet, but it was also perfect. Many thanks to both spring_sidhe and hengist_lt for making it a wonderful moment. - Helping to perform smallstoat's new song and the reactions around the tent. - Talking about the song later and the reactions at that point too. - My first muster - I can't for the life of my remember what I said, but several people said that it had been exactly what people needed to hear at that point, which was encouraging. Being told that a couple of listeners in the Command Tent that couldn't see couldn't believe that it was me was strange, but oddly flattering. - The amazing way the faction banded together on Saturday evening and all of the offers of help that came from all quarters - some of which were quite unexpected. - Doing, I think, quite well on the Sunday at the new job. We got the job done, and nobody died. - Listening to Dredd threaten to serenade Seraphim and Karen on their wedding night (awimbawa, awimbawa). - The shock from Lenia from my swearing in Muster. In marked contrast to avantman42, trying desperately not to do it again. - Helen especially was awesome for all of the advice and help that she offered. - Seeing my new Military Command Staff hang together and all do a fabulous job. - The Order in general - I didn't get to spend as much time with them as I had hoped to, and I doubt I will be able to again, but the times I do spend with them are fantastic. It was also nice to be able to share that time with the PB's Men this weekend. - The two Saturday missions I went out on - both incredibly tense and very exciting. I really did think we would have to hike back to camp from the rescue mission... - And all of those little moments that won't mean anything to anybody else, but really make this hobby worth doing. There are far too many of them to list for fear of forgetting any - but if you contributed to one (and I hope you know who you are if you did) - thanks! Not: - Trouble finding the site and it getting dark so quickly. Set-up, take-down in the dark was not ideal. I also couldn't believe that it wasn't almost 23:00 on Saturday night, when it was in fact about five hours earlier! - Saturday night fighting - was not particularly well organised and made me wonder if I would be able to pull it all together for the Sunday battle. I also hate enthrall... - As I said above, not being able to spend so much time with the Order as I would have liked. I guess I might have to get used to that. - Getting home at almost midnight - why does it always take so long? - Food was not all I had hoped for based off the same team having done Skal, but that's something for the feedback form. I'll no doubt remember more and add them later.

As the subject implies, today is GM's Day - the day when players everywhere should make sure their GMs know that they are appreciated.
Thanks Gary!
Edit: I seem to have accidentally created a meme... I was actually thanking Gary Gygax...
But since other people are starting to come on LJ and thank their GMs, why not?
Thanks to: Mark, DaveB, Rafe, Beth, Emma, AndyJ, DaveL, DaveH, Jon, Paul, Olga, Rob, and anybody else over the years that I might have forgotten...
